Take Me to the River

thisFaber-River-Social

I’ll be reading from my new book Silt Road – The Story of a Lost River at the Faber Social on February 4th. I’m an interloper really as the poster above and the theme for the evening is taken from Peter Murphy’s new book Shall We Gather at the River? But Peter will be reading too, along with Olivia Laing, author of To The River, Mick Jackson author of The Underground Man and more recently The Widow’s Tale, and Tom Bolton – a man as passionately obsessed by lost rivers, ghost rivers and underground rivers as I am – who will be telling us about the lost rivers of London. I go the river to soothe my mind, so sang Natalie Merchant, so come along and soothe yours at 7pm 4th Feb, The Social, 5 Little Portland Street, London, W1.

Tickets are five English pounds, seven on the door and can be ordered in advance from faber.co.uk/events
